A whole lot of popping going on!

This morning I was leafing through my latest issue of RealSimple and came across a number that, if I weren’t contributing to these Power of Ten blogs, I probably would not have stopped to ponder–let alone jumped up to research further! Factoid: those of us in the U.S. consume 16 billion (1.6 x 10+10) quarts [...]

Finding Powers of 10 in designing a home

Recently Dan Gregory wrote in his Editor’s blog  Eye on Design at Houseplans.com about ‘Powers of Ten for Rooms and Furniture’ and how the Powers of Ten film impacts home design.  From the biggest to the smallest decision in designing one’s home, it is not only each decision itself but also how all the decisions [...]

GP-38 at 10-2

Here is a GP-38 from my personal fleet of locomotives. It is scaled at 1:87 or just about 10-2. From careful measurements and comparison to the original I find this is a fairly accurate scale model with some noteable execptions. A full size (10 -0 ) GP 38 weighs about 250,000 pounds, based on that [...]

Bottling Wine in Italy

Last week 10 (101) people bottled 17,620 (1.7 x104) bottles of wine at a small family run vineyard in Montalcino, Italy.  A large truck contains the bottle machine and travels from vineyard to vineyard in the area.  The wines were removed from the casks and put into bottles to make room for the new wine. [...]
